ok so ive just been paid so ordered a new amp to power my sub that I can install while I finish off my boot build. I still have a little bit of money left over so i thought i could replace the standard components on my dash, can someone advise me of best set to get for around the £100 mark or a little bit more. Oh and btw its a mk2 incase u couldnt guess that!!?

replace all the bulbs in the switches and the clocks with LED's!! Brings it up bang up to date!! Did mine last weekend and well happy. You can see the clocks at night now!!
-
bin there, done that, got the blown fusebox  . im after upgraded speakers for the dash
-
sorry chick i mis-read your post!! Thought you were on about upgrading dials etc....
I'll get me coat......
-
Are you after a set for the dash or doors?
-
was for dash but bin advised to do away with em and just get better set for the doors and get modified pods so i can get up to 17cm. so any opinion on good 17cm speakers
-
For your price range i would go with a set of infinity reference components
-
JBL do a great set of direct replacement dash speakers... up to 50W I think. Bugger to replace though, right under the windscreen. Worth it though and keeps the sound forward. Picked mine up on ebay for a lot less than 100! Got my JBL 6x9's for £30 inc postage!

id get some infinity components = 16cm door speaker for the mids and then run the tweeter up to the standard speaker hole in the dash, ull need door pods tho but if u amp them they'll sound pukka. the tweeter will reflect the sound off the windscreen whcih is all good.

hi ya babe i just replaced mine in the dash with the new infinity's they were around £80 from ice direct in peterborough also replaced the ones in the back aswell for the new jbl power system's and they sound sweet check them online the guys there are really good at what they do and i found them to be really cheap good louck!

Infinity speakers are only good at low volumes, if you like me have times when you wanna play your tunes at loud volumes, these speakers are crap. Trust me don't listen to people who recommend these speakers.
If I were you I'd go for Alpine type Rs or Type Ss, I soon be running to sets of these in each door build (currently in the process of making).
Now these speakers sound so wicked, the detail is out of the world for the money. They play excellent at low or high volumes. I would never use anything else. The only speakers better then these are the Alpine Type Xs, but at £240 their abit pricey.
Others speakers I rate are: Kenwood (give better mid than the alpines, but less tops), Pionner (abit to bassy for my liking), JL audio, Phoenix Gold, Rockfords (very similar sound to the alpines, pricey tho).
Hope this helps

thnx for ure advice, im half way thru installing some jl xr650 csi components

Couldent agree more.

plank!!! hmmmm.... bin the car audio 4 many years I've heard alot of speakers, so I speak from experience. My personal taste in music is very wide, using alpines have neva failed to amaze me. Infinitys r not my cup of tea, their not in the same class as the alpines. I'd compare them 2 diamonds, or DLS, neither of which like to be played at stupid volumes.
I've had alpines in all my motors, people can't believe the clarity thru all volumes!! both SQ & spl users have bin left speechless at the sound stage.
Remember one thing amps have alot to do wid it!!!

^^^don't think he was talking about you, i think he was talking about the guy that reccomended infinities in the first place.
-
Infinities are ok if you like your ears to bleed at higher volumes
There are plenty more speaker makes out there 1 Lp, I could name a few others that would be just as good if not miles better but you may not have heard of them
Alot of the time it's how you install it. I've heard some cheap systems that sound great. If it's pooly installed it will generally sound crap. I could put a set of £2000 Brax components running off one of their stupidly expensive amps and it would sound crap, I could then put some budget range JBL components in and install them properly being aimed correctly etc and they would sound miles better.
-
apline (subs) didnt do it for me. JBL's are my favorite subs now. Ive come by alot of audio and infinity are good for mid range and tweets imo.
-
thanks mate was starting to think i was on my own which could have only ment one thing?/??that im tone deaf!lol easy!!
-
Infinity are far from crap guys, their Kappa series are good and some of their subs are very nice it's just the speakers i've heard are a little on the harsh side.
-
errrrrrrrrrrrr????you changed ya tune didnt ya they were crap to start with!not everybody wants a sound system that they can wake up the dead with!i have infinities in the front(dash)
i have the new jbl power range in the doors and the rear quaters and a pheonix gold 12 inch sub int the boot all except the dash are amped up and its sounds lovely.the claraty is wicked oh not to mention a 400 quid pioneer head unit running it all.i dont want my ears to bleed as much as the next guy and maybe you have been in the ice industry for a few years but lets have abit of repsect eh?cos we cant all afford to put thousands of pounds worth of stereo gear in our cars.you get the best you can with the money you have.
go golf chick!!are they in yet i bet they will sound sweet!!
