I was just browsing when I came across this 16 Plate R that has 8000 miles on it already.
It must have been on the road constantly.

Sometimes they just put a random mileage on a demonstrator when they advertise it for sale.
It's possibly being used by someone at the dealership as their company car so they just take a guesstimate as to its mileage when the three months is up when they look to selling it.

Yep what Exonian said, I enquired about a used car a little while ago and was told it was a demo which was advertised as having 5000 miles, it only had 1200 miles on it when I went to test drive it.

many years back bought a VW 2.0 Sport Bora MY02 at 6 months old with 10,000 on it as a demonstrator and the amount of oil that thing used to burn definitely outweighed any discount that was so happy about at time as sure its Demo days contributed to the excessive oil burn.
Also in its last years at 70,000 miles its economy was on the Golf R range when ragging the R! again blamed it on being a demo. Good solid car to drive though and even when see one now think it holds up well for its age.

I'm driving a demo Audi A7 BiTDi at the minute. Would I buy it, not a chance. I'd be the same with a used car though unless it was an enthusiast owned example. I was driving one of my brothers cars last week when I got a puncture and couldn't believe it when I looked at the tyre when the guy took the wheel off, 3mm of tread left and only just over 3k on the clock. Some people treat their cars like sh!t.
