Title: DSG Whine
Post by: mr magoo on 17 April 2016, 13:07
Hi guys

So, after 173k miles on my 08 plate Ed30, the 'box has started making a whining noise.

Not noticed any change in performance.

It's going in tomorrow to be checked over - eek - any thoughts anyone?

Cheers

Martin

Erm can't remember exactly but I've been following the ?40k plan, so probably around 160k miles.

I've heard of a couple of DSGs with bearing failure creating a very loud whining noise.

Some whine is normal, but as you've had it for many miles, I'm sure you're well placed to know what's normal or not.

Yup, new 'box needed, they say I need a new turbo too.

(I do trust 'em, they're well known.)

Down to 2k with a goodwill gesture from VW.

TIme to start saving the pennies I feel!!

Haha

I'm amazed they have offered you any goodwill at that age and mileage!

Bit of a result really
