So I've been checking out some Leasehire companies online. Discovered there are some much better deals to be had than what my local stealer can offer. Needless to say I'll be trying one of those for my next car.
Does anyone have any recommendations on particular companies? Would like to get the best bang for my buck!
-
Yes I've got one. I have a mate who works for UK Car Line up near me in Preston, but I'm sure they could deliver Nationwide, most of them do. He's just given me some pricing on a new BMW X4 for my Wife and I'm very very impressed. Over £200 per month cheaper than the dealer PCP option!
I can send you his details if you like?

If you get the deals backed by VWFS you can actually go through a VW dealer, the group I deal with were actually cheaper than the best lease price i could get
-
That's a good start.
I've never leased a car so I'm probably the last person qualified to give advice. My sole dealings with lease hire companies involve clearing out the pile of special offer deals that appear in the office fax machine each day when I go to use the photocopier (that's my daily workout!!)
However since leasegate I've done an awful lot of reading up on it all and having a friend who's a leasing company depot manager is quite handy for finding things out.
There's a dedicated forum section over on vwroc.com which is a good place to keep an eye on the current best deals, along with hotukdeals which tends to have the better deals appear if you can be bothered to sift through the rest of it.
Best advice I can give is get a few contacts (see above post) and on the R forum there is active involvement from lease hire companies and get on their mailing lists. The really good deals are when manufacturers are punting out a limited run at highly discounted prices which just about all of the leasing companies will have access to. If you have a good contact and are quick off the blocks you'll stand a good chance of getting an early slot when a deal goes live.
It would also be worth contacting a few VW dealers and speaking to their fleet hire department if it's definitely a VW you want as they'll have access to the same deals as lease hire companies which includes special promotional deals like the R deals a year or two ago.
My friend's company buys in cars from Cheltenham VW amongst others and they have a big turnover so it's also well worth speaking to Evo1986 as he might be able to give you some pointers or a good contact name.

We went wilth u choose vehicle contracts for our 5 door GTI in DPB. Very good deal and no hidden delivery costs etc.
Almost went with Stable vehicle contracts. But they charged for delivery.
Both are part of big main dealer networks although dont shout about it.

I used http://www.neva-consultants.com/
Very helpful over email and phone to put the order through. Car arrived on the back of a trailer to my door and was in stunning condition - never mind all this 'leave all the transport tape in place'
One thing they did point out to me, which would be the case with any lease, is what happens at the end. Apparently on some lease deals the car goes back, no option. On mine I will be offered the chance to extend the lease or buy the car outright. I can't see me doing either but it's a good option to have.

Drop me an email with what you want and what you have been quoted and I will see what we can come up with.

Sounds gd. That would be appreciated birchy, thanks!

I feel like I was a bit mugged off now seeing what deals are available. Like a Golf R for less than £300 a month!
I put down £3k and pay £312 a month on my base model gti. Only extra was paint. Had her 1yr and can give back after 2.

Best I've seen are for a Gti, 3 door, manual with nav,
2 years £870 deposit, £290 month and 10,000 miles
2 years £750 deposit, £250 month and 5,000 miles, think it's 7.2p a mile if you go over.
Think to have a 5 door with nav and dsg is about an extra £32 a month.
Golf r
3 years £990 deposit, £330 month and 10,000 miles
3 years £880 deposit, £292 month and 5,000 miles, again 7.2p a mile
2 years £1045 deposit, £348 month and 10,000 miles
2 years £910 deposit, £303 month and 5,000 miles, 7.2p a mile excess
That is with vehicle savers with a £360 admin fee, but if you go direct to vw they tend to better the price slightly and you don't pay the admin fee, hope this may help someone who's looking at upgrading.

Thanks mate. What are the lead times do you know. Presumably these are all standard spec gti isn't bad as five door comes with Nav and keyless as standard.
-
It would probably be a new build so possibly between 12 and 16 weeks, if you go through vw they may have stock already.
Yes standard but they come with a lot of extras already on the gti, less so on the r.
Think it's an extra £5 a month for metallic paint, only looked at it briefly as I moved and needed a diesel to commute to work.

Thanks for that. Do you know how you go with VW direct? Is it just a case of going into the local dealer? Anyone know?

I know vw lightcliffe in Halifax and vw Crewe have fleet departments, I ordered my Passat alltrack on lease through VW Crewe at which they matched a special offer I had seen, £440 deposit and £145 a month on 190 bhp dsg 8000 mile a year, 2 year lease, this put me off the Gtd sadly but could I not turn this down on a 35 grand car.
If you call your local dealership and ask to speak to someone from fleet they should be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction.

rgdogg: How long ago was the Passat alltrack 190TDI DSG offer on? Just wondering if it is still available as my dad might be interested (he almost chopped in his July 13 GTD for another GTD recently, but that price is insanely good).
-
It ran for about 4 hours 4 weeks ago, till VW realised that someone had messed up the guaranteed future value after 2 years, surprisingly VW honoured all the finance proposals that had been put through before pulling the offer!
-
some really cheap leases on Leon Cupras going right now if you're not 100% committed on a Golf.

Suppose you could do me a business lease quote too? :)
My mk7 GT estate will need replacing later this year, probably with GTD estate and DSG (if I can get most of the gadgets I have on my current car).
