Title: 1.8T White Smoke - Idle Cold Start
Post by: Scott D on 13 April 2016, 00:25
I'm noticing quite a lot of white smoke during idle cold starts which continues for 5-10 minutes until coolant and oil has fully warmed up also noticing a slight whine when reving at idle and coming on boost before fully warmed up.

After warm up all smoke disappears no noises nothing out of the unusual drives fine boosts to expected levels and holds as should.

Car is sat for a few days at a time only occasionally drive a short distance to work once or twice midweek and is primarily used at weekend. I suspect could well be build up of condensation in exhaust and low temps below 4°C causing this but at same time turbo seals springs to mind.

It's a 1.8T with original K03s on 89k

Seals it would be all the time. I remember the seals on the s3 going.
That also smokes white when cold and been stood. Always put it down to condensation my self

Guess its me being paranoid

Took it for a good drive today and no smoke at all. Did notice down on coolant slightly - monitoring that
