Wife asked me tonight if I was aware the vanity mirror on the drivers sun visor is cracked.........she denies being her normal heavy handed self but there are at least 5 cracks.
So if she's not responsible and I can't fathom how I would have done it then it must have been done by the dealer when it was having its second service in February.......
I've the LED lights but nothing is ever easy/simple....cannot replace the mirror it's a complete new visor at £70-90.
Anyone had a similar issue and been lucky to have it changed under warranty? Or can just the mirror be replaced? If I have to change the visor how is this done as there must be a connection for when the cover is slid back activating the light?
Cheers

Looks like it's started.
Hit a feathered rat this morning and it's cracked the lower grille and knocked the trim off the radar sensor. Luckily this little piece of trim was undamaged and clipped back on. Touch wood all looks ok with ACC. No errors......yet. £80 for a visor, wonder how much for new grille?
So more questions - how easy is it to remove and replace lower grille? I've got a set of trim tools it's just knowing where fixings/clips are. Anybody got a how-to, pics or diagram?

Is that sort of stuff not in a Haynes manual?

Not an easy job by the looks of it. Bumper off etc. Here's a video of how to do that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLKydAgQbOM&spfreload=10
Also here is the grille itself showing all the lugs. You do one lug and move to the next and the previous lug snaps back into place. You know the kind of thing :undecided:

Hit a pheasant a couple of months ago which broke the bottom grille on my GTD. Fortunately it didn't do any damage to the ACC sensor. Phoned the VW dealer in Aberdeen and waited for usual VW "premium" price. I thought he had made a mistake quoting just over £30 including VAT. Ordered one which came in a couple of days even the guy in the parts dept. checked the price before he gave me it. As for the fitting it's a bumper off job but took it slowly and managed to get it done in a morning. Lots of fiddly bits but it's easily possible if you get a helping hand. Good luck

p3asa/dfsGTD - thank you both for your replies and info. Extremely helpful. Relieved re price of replacement and removal of bumper didn't look too bad.......
I'm off down to Peter Cooper's to plead with them to see if they will do the sun visor as a warranty claim and will see about ordering front grille.
