Any advice for small stone chips? I've managed to pick up some small stone chips on the drivers side from a run back to sheffield in the last couple of days.
Both lots on drivers side, 1 on the back door and the other on the bonnet below the crease line. The one on the bonnet us worse than the other one.
Is the best course of action to get the vw touch up kit that comes with paint and lacquer to do it?
Posting from mobile site at the moment but will add a couple of pics later.
Also got a few scratches on the other side of the bonnet - I think from my cats jumping on the car. Plan on dealing with these with some ssr polish - I currently have some 2.5 but will probably buy some less abrasive stuff.
Obviously will need to fully clean the car before doing any of the above.

Had the ACC set at 70 the whole way as have to drive like a nun when the mrs is in the car.
Would have made it there and back (just under 500 miles) on a whole tank of diesel had it not been windy and raining the last 100 miles, so had to put some in about 50 miles before home

Very comprehensive video thanks. I'll have to have a think about whether I want to have a go at this myself. The thought of sanding the car terrifies me a bit and I would need to by a DA as well I guess.

Another option would be to buy a paint chip repair kit from Dr Colourchip or Chipex.
I used a Chipex kit on my mk6 GTD. The colour match (Carbon Grey) was excellent and with time and practice, you can get good results. If you're not happy with your efforts, you can used the blending solution supplied in the kit to completely remove the paint you've applied without damaging the surrounding paintwork and start again.

Thanks for that. had a quick look at chipex. Looks very easy to use. Also like that you get quite a bit of paint, etc for the money and it has a shelf life of 4 years.
Says about removing any existing wax.. I don't have wax on the car but have c2v3 so not sure if there's anything I need to do to remove it before starting.
Have got some c2v3 left so will put more on when done and possibly some wax on top as well

Finally got chance to put the photos on...
here's the one on the bonnet (looks a bit smudged as I gave it a quick wipe with a damp cloth to see how bad the damage was)...

and the one on the back door....

Think I will give that chipex 'road rash' kit a go..... like the idea of being able to wipe it off and start again if not happy with it. however, will see how the funds are first this month first as insurance is due.

^^ those are nasty stone chips. Let us know how you get on with the Chipex kit. I've got one (much smaller) than yours on my bonnet needs sorting.
Maybe it's the photos, but looks like you've also got some scratches on the bonnet and door?

Agree with Booth looks like you've found my old sponge and fairy liquid.

Yep there's a few scratches here and there. Looks a bit worse than it is as the car is dirty as well.
Will need to get a da and do a full polish when the better weather comes
