Hi Guys
I was just working in my boot and I think my GTI is missing a plastic cover from the seat hinge, picture below. I seem to remember this from my 2013 GTI.
Can anyone confirm so I can ask the dealer to order me the part.

Mine's not got one either so that must be how they come
-
It's all about the cost savings
-
The boot floor covers it so there is no need for a extra plastic cover anyway.
-
My GTD (2 years in June) has one.
I'll check the Mrs car when she gets home.

That looks so much better, i've been fleeced with the new one . I guess it could be weight saving!
I'm picking up a new GTI front badge front my dealers tomorrow as my 'I' fell off. I will ask if the cover should be included.
-
Our GTI doesn't have a cover either. I know its covered by the boot floor but its horrible looking.
Let us know the price if you ask while in at the parts department.
-
I'll not be buying one that's for sure
-
If the only time you'll see it is when/if you need to use the spare wheel then why bother?
-
My GTI, built December 2013, has the cover.
-
I had a look at the technical diagrams with the parts department today. There was a cover mentioned but im 50/50 if its the correct cover shown in the above picture. It cost me £3 so I decided to take a punt...

According to EKTA its 5G0886197B

Think I'll b removing mine from my current GTD in case the new one doesn't have it (just in case)

Collecting my new GTi tomorrow, so cleared all my bits from the GTD today. While removing items from the boot, this little cover fell off, so I have it saved, in case my new car doesn't have one. It was actually quite hard to persuade it to fall off, as it's difficult to see how it's attached. If it helps anyone, you have to force the 2 sides apart to release barbs inside the cover.

 There goes my morning tea.

Sorry! Anyway it is now properly installed in it's new GTi home. My first mod!

Bit of a thread revival but I viewed the new GTD at the dealership yesterday (in preparation for the wife's Blue GT Polo arriving any day now, and found another small area where VW have cheapened out.
That being the area on the forward inside edge of the front door (near the rear view mirror), where on the new car there are two ugly bolts showing but on my current GTD, they are covered by a black trim piece. Must have saved VW all of a euro each ! They much have changed the door as well as the current GTD has two small holes where the trim piece fits in to, but on the newer car, the holes are no longer there. Wonder where else VW have removed pieces from to save money ?

Enjoy your new GTD. As you ordered the sport & sound pack did you notice if the front callipers have the GTD logo?
-
No they don't mate (never expected them to). They are exactly the same calipers as the standard non S&S Pack GTD (like my current car), but painted red at the factory.
The name plate "GTI" that's on the PP models, use a slightly larger caliper with a modified design to take the two pins that the cover plate (with the GTI lettering) uses to attach to the caliper as well as larger diameter discs.
Sorry :-)
-
Thanks for the information.
The current price list says.
Sport and Sound pack Exhaust sound actuator for selected driver profile. Comfort sound –
Normal and Eco mode, ‘Deep Sporty sound’ – Sport mode.
Includes ‘Red’ brake callipers with 'GTD' logo.
When I seen this I checked with the dealers parts dept. for the part number - there wasn't one.

Is that a recent brochure as that description was on an old one from 2013!
Have a look at this post http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=260090.msg2389060#msg2389060
Evo1986 is a dealer on the forum and he posted a recent VW bulletin on this very subject.

Checked the VW site today before I made the post.
EFFECTIVE FROM 5.4.2016 and as you say also in previous price lists.
