Title: Windscreen tint
Post by: Waspy on 25 March 2016, 23:39
My windscreen has a green bar along the top (to stop the sun getting in your eyes). Was that standard and if so, can you still get them?

My windscreen has a nice arch scratch where the wiper departed mid storm, and now has a chip, so considering replacing. Just want to get it right.

The choice is clear or tinted (slightly green) glass and either with or without the "top tint" green bar you refer to.

So you either want clear screen with top tint or green screen with top tint.

Brilliant, clear screen with top tint it is! Thanks for your help

EDIT: Just came across heated windscreen. Man, that would be nice!

Indeed they are, I had one 40 years (!) ago on my mini.

I had anew screen fitted last year, green tint £216 for the screen with new seal and fitting costs on top. Strangely I could have had one with a green 'top tint' for about 2/3 the price.

Sounds expensive! Heritage have green tints for £50 and seals for £30...

The headed ones I've been looking at are £240

Yep that is expensive compared with VWH which is presumably why the garage asked me if I wanted the cheaper one with a top tint.
