Title: Will my ipod work in a mk7 GTi?
Post by: Bubba Nutkin on 03 March 2016, 18:33
I've done several searches but can't find an answer (or at least, not one I understand).  So I have a iPod Nano 3rd generation; the car will have the latest pro Nav and Dynaudio (i.e. the "tech pack", if that matters).  Will there be a connector so my ipod can sit in the glove box?  I just want my tunes, not interested in video and I don't bother with a smart phone (yes, a luddite, I know).  Car arrives in a few weeks time.
Or, do I need to buy a more up to date iPod?
Thanks, Bubba.

You will have a USB plug in a cubby in front of gear stick - just use your own cable

It does have it's own hard drive but there's not much point in using it. You have to be in the car to rip CD's to it. It's much easier to use an SD card or iPod.

Ah, that was another question I was pondering.  Given that I might have, say, 500 tracks on my iPod, i presume it would take an age to copy those tracks to the hard drive?  So instead, in the car, I just use the same cable for my iPod that I use in the house to access iTunes on my PC, right?
Does anyone know if I'll get artwork on the Nav screen?
Bubba.
