Title: Advice please - little black marks on the alloys
Post by: C3PO on 28 February 2016, 08:42
So despite we trying to keep the wheels clean, over the winter the car had gone 9 weeks without a wash. Last weekend it got a good wash, but noticed little black marks on the alloys despite giving them two washes with Bilberry wheel cleaner, and the wheel woollies treatment. Would a product such as iron x do the trick?

The little black dots sound like tar, but you will no doubt have plenty of brake dust as well.  Pretorias are a nightmare for brake dust.  So wheels, and the rest of the car will need a going over with both a tar remover such as Tardis, and an iron remover such as Iron X.  That should see you right.

Cheers Rebecca I was hoping you would know with your vast experience of products and being the testing queen

Will get some ordered and hopefully solve my annoyance.

As Bec says, it's sounds like some fallout.

If a fallout remover doesn't shift it try claying them too. Then seal and wax.

Finally a decent day to tackle the car, purchased some dodo juice iron ferrous fallout, and what a great job, first treated the wheels with Bilberry juice, the. Washed with wheel woollies, then after rinsing sprayed a small amount of dodo juice on and left for a few minutes, the rinsed. Wheels now back to new.

Definitely recommend.

Nice one C3PO.  Sounds like your wheels have really benefitted from a good decontamination.
