I saw one yesterday in Northampton on a 13 plate, but thought they stopped selling them in 2012 - replica?
I thought 62 plate was the latest you could buy?
Edit - just to say I found one hardtop 13 plate MK6 on Autotrader - no GTis. I did also see a 65 plate MK6 GTI Cabriolet though!

There are often unsold old stock that get registered on later plates. There were quite a number of K reg Mk2 Golf's around, even tho' the Mk3 was launched on a J plate.
As with older models of Golf, the cabriolet often spanned two generations. The Mk1 cab was produced alongside the Mk2 hatch and the Mk3 cab continued alongside the Mk4 hatch (albeit with a Mk4 nose job)

Yeah, there used to be a p reg mk2 in Harrogate a few years ago. A mk1 escort was on eBay a few months ago with a prefix number plate. I thought they stopped making them in 73/74

Wow, K plate MK2s?! i wonder why VW like doing that with the cabriolets though, surely they'd sell more if they only flogging MK7 versions although I doubt your average hairdresser would notice the difference lol

Probably sat in a compound for a few years! I know through my RS days that there is (or was) an Escort Cosworth on a genuine 2000 W reg and also a 3 door Sierra Cosworth on a 1993 K!

Yeh having been a Ford parts tech(modern) word for storeman! customers were sometimes very disappointed when they gave me their VIN number vs their reg number!

That's a bit like " The chicken and the egg!" What came first!

Yeah, until I ordered it, I didn't even know that there was a 2013 model. I'm sure that there are probably a few 13 plate mk6's - I did originally consider waiting which would have meant a 13 plate in March but I had to get rid of my previous mk6 as it had a catalogue of (some serious) problems and my wife was adamant that she wanted a mk6 not a mk7.
My 62 plate (2013 model) has slight differences like an illuminated rings around the speedo/rev counter dials.
Not sure what else but I know the redline is at 6800 rpm and not lower like I have seen on most. I'm pretty sure that there is no engine difference though
