Title: ACC and front Assist not available
Post by: golfhappy on 27 February 2016, 19:51
Got this message in the MFD. Did an auto scan and cleared the codes. Didn't clear this one. I did hit a fox! it stopped half way over the road, it is ok. Did crack the lower black plastic grille. I take it from reading its a trip to the dealers to get the sensor realigned.

If it was me,I'd get the plastic repaired myself and then go to the dealers and not mention hitting anything. If you say you hit a fox,you won't get it done under warranty and those sensors are expensive.

As someone who had this fault numerous times without hitting anything, I was told by the dealership that the sensor was about £80, and the realignment (including full wheel alignment) cost over £400. They realigned mine 3 times before replacing the sensor. It still happens coming Northbound through the Tyne Tunnel in the right lane of traffic - seems the sensor gets confused seeing nothing but wall for 1/3 of a mile (as the tunnel curves around approaching the exit).

It didn't do it until i did a couple of drive cycles. The plastic has been repaired the only thing is that it must pivot and goes into a hard grommet on the left hand side. It was lying inside the bumper, i did manage to retrieve it and stuck it back on the pivot pin but cant get it back into the bracket...if only i had girlie hands!
According to ebay new £400 saving £300 on new

Yes Monkeyhanger I remember the trouble you had with yours.
What do you think the chances are of golfhappy getting it sorted under warranty?Assuming he doesn't declare the collision.

If there's no signs of damage and it looks relatively straight (with no damage to the rest of the front end), perhaps golfhappy could plead ignorance.

The only thing is if i get that hard plastic retaining lug from the back of that adjuster and get it located in the bracket i might get away with it. Just so tight getting in from the front where the sensor is.

http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2950 post#14 on the left hand side just below the bolt on the bracket, it's that plastic retainer that is broken. I've managed to get it out. I'll check with the garage on Tuesday.

Update: Just run another auto scan and cleared the codes this time? prior to this the ACC wouldn't clear always said incorrectly positioned. The cruise control is now working no errors saying its not available in the MFD.
Waiting on a bracket clip from ebay dont know whether to stick it in place when it comes...
