Well I've had it 5 months nearly, time goes fast. I've been on here on and off for a couple of years searching for my dad's old mk2 (still no luck) and I've been on fairly regularly since I got the golf.
I thought I would pass some time, so this is the latest in a long line of gtis, an even longer line of vws and a ridiculously long line of vag cars in my family, though it's my first.
After 5 months all seems well, just been serviced and new front discs and pads. Just before the service I fitted a pipercross induction kit (for some reason, though these things happen), had my dad moaning at me about it before I'd even mentioned it (demon tweaks email him, for some reason).
It's brilliant for over taking, my old clio 197 was only fast in the right gear. The only issue so far is 5 weeks after getting is some sod bent the front wing and drove off, so a 700 quid bill for me.
I couldn't figure out how to upload photos so the link below should do it

Looking very tidy that mate. Any mods planned?

Thanks, I've thought about it, but I need some money first, after reading a bit a downpipe is looking most appealing next. After being used to a clio 197 with a full stainless group a exhaust and various other stuff, it took some getting used to how quiet the golf was in comparison and how much fun the Renault was (when it wasn't broken down). I fitted the induction kit to make my car a bit more mine, I'd like to do a bit more but not go beyond what vw might do. I liked having a car that was different to all the others.

At long last my car has earned it's stripes, after a gruelling day in Yorkshire and over the buttertubs pass, I'd forgotten how incredible those roads are.

I was quite surprised that I was miles faster than anyone else. Last time I went over the buttertubs pass in my clio 197 we were bending the laws of physics. This time only issue seemed to give it any welly. Good fun though, it proved itself worthy.

Just got back from rstuning in Leeds, after some adjustments it has made 268.9 bhp, it feels rapid now, they did briefly have it producing 270.1 but there was too much torque lower down for the clutch to hold so it's been turned down a bit so the clutch can cope. But it made more than I expected.
I took it to rstuning because I know they have a good reputation and they remapped my old clio.
I'm off out for a drive on some roads in know now. We'll see if it can claw it's way, closer to the mk2 my dad had. (Fun wise)

Yes, he was taking it easy though as apparently it's a bit of a handful, being so short and wide it is tricky to control.
