I swapped my Mk6 Gti for a Mk7 on Wednesday,I hadnt really driven it much until today,so off to Preston NE on an awayday (my turn to drive ) to watch the mighty Sheffield Wednesday was the first real decent run in it.
I enjoyed the trip to Preston, feels a good planted drive, nice and quick,I like the DSG and the adaptive cruise, despite the pessing rain a good safe journey.
Anyway Wednesday lost 1-0 having had Forestieri harshly(or stupidly?) sent off,and the grind back through the traffic begins, again the DSG in the traffic is great,it takes a little getting used to coming from a manual but its good and I think it will only improve from a driving point of view. Back out of the traffic and onto the motorways for the journey back, again feels great, solid and safe, then off the Mway and onto some unlit country roads to drop a lad off who lives in the sticks.
Those lights,,is it just me? My Mk6 had Xenons with active cornering, and these new ones in comparison are shiite!!
Is there anything that can be done to improve them? They are OKish on main beam but on dip they are (IMO obviously) rubbish at the side of my old ones.
Opinions, thoughts, solutions, suggestions, ridicule and sarcasm all welcome! Praps its my eyes! Thanks.

Which headlights do you have exactly?
My mk7 has swiveling lights, but you only get them on the xenons with LED DRL or the Xenons with LED DRL and DLA.

Good to see another football fan following their team home and away
Anyway here is all you need to know http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=276375.0

Mmmm, tbh I dont know! Its a 2014 model, what was fitted as standard at the time? How can I find out?

I know yours is a GTI, but this has been the subject of much heated debate on the R forum (VWROC) with some saying the same as you and others (like me) having no issue with the lights.

Having had two Mk7's I can say the mk6 xenons seemed better but I'd not say they were terrible on the 7.
They're a bit rubbish on Eco as the cornering lights don't seem to illuminate.
-
Had the MK6 xenons and way better on dip, but full beam on both i would say much the same.

I think my lights are the best I've had in any car, it's my 7th car with xenons. My car is fitted with the dynamic lights though so that might make a difference.

The swivel function doesn't work if you are in Eco. I have had two Mk7 Golfs and on both the headlights have been great. They may need adjusting which was covered on here a couple of months ago. Apparently it is really easy to do. If I could be A***d I would find the link but I bet someone is/has already done it

There is a thread on here showing you how to crank the lights up a bit, which makes a lot of difference.
Seemingly quite a few leave the factory with them not set high enough - and I'm not talking about so high that you blind people or fail an MOT test!
-
The link for sorting them is on the 3rd post

Yeah just adjust them, takes 2 mins
10 turns each light and see how it goes, mine were fine from the factory by a mates were pretty low for some reason.
BTW long Phillips screw driver is all you need as the bottom (height) adjustment has the hex for an Allen key and a phillips too, just like the top one. Just in case you don't have a very long allen key set.

Is it definitely a UK car? Some EU imports didn't have Xenons and were being sold over here by Motorpoint.

Thanks for this,Ive wound em up 3 turns to begin with,Ill see if they need a bit more.
Yeah, its a UK car from VW it has got Xenons not the ones on an import.
