Was topping up the windscreen washer bottle as light came on. Felt like I was putting in loads of water...! Worried it has a leak but the light only came on recently
How big is the bottle?

If you've got headlamp washers it's 5.5 litres. If not, it's 3.6 litres.

I fill mine up once a week - the headlight washers absolutely cane it!

Just filled mine - first time since it was serviced in March last year. I altered the settings for when the come on so its obviously worked!

Well thats odd i have headlights washers and my bottle takes 2.5 litres its a standard halfords small bottle

My mk6 GTD had the winter pack and it definitely took 5 litres. I know this as I use a 3 litre squash bottle to fill it. Maybe yours is lying about it being empty. Or they never fit the larger bottle with xenon only. It's mentioned in the winter pack extras.

Are you sure you have washers? All GTI/D models have the washer covers in the bumper, regardless of whether they have headlight washers or not.
That said, when my warning light comes on, I can only get about 1.5 litres of screenwash in mine.

I had xenons on my mk6 GTD but I didn't have the winter pack. I never consciously measured the volume to fill it when the warning lamp came on, but it did take much more than 2.5 - 3 litres.
