Better looking than it sounds....why can't VW UK import some interesting colour choices?

its an audi colour so don't see why they wouldn't sell you it if your paying the money

Nope - VW UK simply don't offer anything other than the published colours, with no apparent way to have the wider colour choice available in the German market

You could order any colour you want on a Mk6 so I'm sure you could do the same on a Mk7.
Not sure of the price though.

Out of curiosity I went on the configurator, £2025 and its not a limitless colour choice to choose from.
I thought it would have been more or less any colour.

Anyone VAG colour currently in production, they won't mix a unique colour for you. I'm presuming the additional cost is justified for the shipment of your body shell to the plant that gives that optional colour on the cars it builds there or its to pay for hogging a paint booth with your non-standard colour at the plant your car would usually be built at and paying for the cleanup of said booth.

I would love to be able to get the colour I had on my Mk4 which was cherry red(I think) it was like a pearl red.

I've said before and I'll say it again... its crap the VW UK don't offer the same paint selection as that for the German market.

I suppose the only thing I can think of is that the RHD vehicles are built on a different line to the LHD ones and that the volume is significantly less that the tear down and clean cycle for the paint sprayers are justifiable for the volume of vehicles ever likely to be being built in "bile yellow" or "mint teabag".

If they let me choose from the German colour range though, I'd definitely have ordered something cheery :)

Is that "firespark red"? They had it on some of the early press shots and it was never seen again.

We do seem to get a raw deal on colours available on the GTi in the UK. Solid black is now the only colour you don't have to pay up for! Even regular red & white are £260 extra according to the VW configurator.

Have a look at the VW Germany configurator, they classify the colours as "spectrums" of blue, brown, yellow etc...

http://app.volkswagen.de/ihdcc/de/configurator.html#colours/30300/36100/5G19UX/2016/1

It would be great to be able to spec some retro GTi colours like Lhasa green & Helios or Monza blue.

Firespark Red is a stunning colour, probably should have made it exclusive to the R instead of Lapiz Blue

Nice choice but they are paying for it at 1770 - 2210 Euros.
It would be interesting to see if VW UK would allow us one of those colours.

Given what that is in pounds and how much you pay in the UK already for any colour other than black or white (tornado red is now no longer "free"), I don't think that's an excessive amount.

I'm probably going to order another GTD this year and the colour issue is one that I am concerned about - I never really liked any of the colours much and the LSG I have was my attempt at "something different". Having had it now, I'd not get it again but the other choices are so meh.

So I would be paying my money for something I don't really want any which way!

If I had of being getting a hatch instead of an estate I would have went with oryx white. Granted it looks like solid white unless it is a bright day or under lights at night but for when the conditions are right I love the colour on my CC

Colour option has nothing to do with lhd/rhd. VW Ireland said I could spec any colour available in Germany. The price put me off though. VW UK seem to be far less helpful with special requests.

Amen to that.

It's finding some decent at the VW dealer that's the problem, not just a quick and easy sale.

Purple just does not go with the red GTI bits, would look way better on the R or a GTD

Firespark was on a few sciroccos before launched and gutted it has never appeared

Of the mint green from the MK3 Colour concept or the violet from the VR6.

Colours are very limited.

I wouldn't have it without the red bits, them purple/eubegine g60s looked spot on.

Though if I could I'd be having capri green.
