Title: Bluetooth for RNS510
Post by: T_J_G on 29 January 2016, 19:11
Hello,

Been a while since I last logged on here.

I will be picking up a Mk6 GT TDI at the weekend and it's fitted with a RNS510 and bluetooth prep, however doesn't work with the iPhone.

I'd like to have t fintioning with my iPhone so was wondering if it's possible to purchase a new BT module and update the RNS using VAGCOM? I've looked into the Fiscon but £300 seems a bit steep.

Can anyone shed anymore light on this?

Thanks
Tim

Well my research suggest that buying a later bluetooth module and swapping out the old one will have the desired effect, and will only need coding if I want to use voice controls.

I also have an RNS 510 and thinking of adding Bluetooth. Just don't know if I already have Mic and whether it's Bluetooth prepped. If I press the phone button on RNS or mic button on steering wheel the music is muted.
Any thoughts?
Maybe I need to check under driver seat to see if there's an empty module ?

Scroll through the DIS using the <> buttons on the right of the steering wheel. If Bluetooth is fitted, there will be a Bluetooth menu in there. The fact that pressing the phone buttons on the radio and steering wheel mutes the radio, suggests you don't have it.

Do you know the model number of the unit you got? Does music play through Bluetooth too?

Also do you have a shark fin aerial?

£85 seems a good price and would snap one up at that price to enable the functionality. Seems likeI just need to buy the module itself.

Also looking into what firmware I can put on the RNS510 and what maps etc, won't let me go into secret menu to see what version it is.

Appears the unit I'm after is 5K0 035 730B - £150 on eBay!
