Title: Emission workshop warning and stalling

Please help, on my 2.0 mark 4 estate I have had a warning saying emission workshop at the same time as he car stalls. It can happen about 5 times in a short journey and then not happen for days???  Also I have noticed where I park the car there is a build up of soot on the floor where the exhaust exits.

I have plugged in a fault code reader and it said there were no faults, is this what you are on about?
