My brothers car has no aerial & it's started leaking & he's wondering if it's somehow getting in there & running down to the windscreen.
Whether this is the case or not, he'll be needing one. If not just so it doesn't look stupid.
I had a quick google but just see all manner of aerials and i suspect aftermarket ones - shark fin, stubby etc.
What is the official aerial that the car came with though?
-
Does he have Bluetooth and Satnav?
-
Nope. I don't think so at least anyway. I'll double check but i'm pretty sure he doesn't
-
Ok i've just asked him & he's said he's unsure about bluetooth but it doeshave satnav
-
Is it just the antenna bit he is missing or the base as well. Is there a bit left on the roof or just a square whole.
-
I'll get you a photo tomorrow.
He has the sourrround bit. It's missing the antenna, but as for what is left in the middle of that surround i'm not 100% sure.
I'll come back tomorrow with a photo.

I got the stubby Citroen aerial from ebay

I've had this on the GTI since 2008 without any problems. Looks the business too. No problems with reception on the radio.

If it's just the antenna - Bobo makes a good recemendation.

Does this help at all?.........

Hmm yeah looking at it, i don't think any aerial is screwing in there in a 30second fix job. lol

-
Haha yeah needs a whole new sat nav antenna and housing. Plug it up with some waterproof sealent Forbes to stop any more water getting in
-
Thanks.
What would be the process here then because it looks to me a little more than just screwing an aerial in.
Do you need to remove that whole base without damaging anything & then you'll be able to get to what you need to? Or is there more to it? Headlining need coming off? Or not that far?
-
There is a bolt under the headlining to remove old aerial
