Title: R standard infotainment?
Post by: Gtiless on 12 January 2016, 17:57
Hi all,

Does anyone know exactly what you get in a new R if you don't upgrade the stereo-tainment thing?

Is there no nav at all on it as standard,I have looked on the VW site but it doesn't really explain what you get,I think its more about trying to get you to upgrade it. (Also is it worth the minimum £750 to do it?)

Thanks in advance!

Yes, no sat nav as standard.... but fairly clear from website:

750 for gen 2 DM, 1765 for DP

Thanks, so its a 3.5" screen as standard looking at that-mmmm, I don't know if I like the sound of that.

Ah, I have just realised this is not the radio this is the screen between the clocks?

Yep that's the one in speedo....
Media screen is 5.8, 6.5 or 8" depending on model year and what audio system / sat nav you have.

At least the gen 2 sat navs are reasonably fast.... unlike my 5.8" gen 1 dm....

So, if you dont pay for a nav but you pay for android connect (or whatever its called) you can just use your phone as a sat nav through the display?
