Title: sunroof drains pictures ?
Post by: sparkplug on 10 January 2016, 12:00
on my 1986GTI type 19 four door
i am trying to stop water getting into the rear foot well on the passenger side
i have done the door membranes, checked the blower motor seal & they seem OK

i cleared the front 2 sunroof drains , using a bowden cable inner
but with my old eyes & a torch i cant see any at the rear ? i cant find any pics or diagrams of the rear sunroof drains ?
IF they exist where should they exit the car ????? confused & soggy  :embarrassed:

They should exit the car thru the boot, towards the very rear of the car, and come out thru a hole and appear behind the bumper, just behind the rear wheels. If you cant find them behind the bumper (best to remove bumper) check your spare wheel well isn't full of water, because thats where the water will end up! Just in the process of changing my drainage pipes for a rubber alternative, originals are a plastic type. Roof lining out time :-(
