After being in the dark about whether my service pack had actually gone through following my R purchase in May 2015 (date of registration and pick-up was 28th May 2015), I got my salesman to enquire for me in early Dec 2015 as 6 months ownership had passed and no payments taken.
I then got a load of letters through at once from VWFS, each one for a different monthly payment that hadn't previously been taken.
I was under the impression that the £15.99 plan started payments 6 months into ownership e.g.:-
2 year plan, you do 18 x £15.99 and start payment at month 6 of ownership.
3 year plan, you do 24 x £15.99 and start payment at month 6 of ownership.
4 year plan, you do 36 x £15.99 and start payment at month 6 of ownership.
On the 29th December, VWFS took 8 x £15.99, which means they took a payment for day 2 of ownership (if you were buying a car on finance, you'd expect your first payment a calendar month after collection, not the next day), and then the 29th of every subsequent month.
I was expecting my first payment on 28th or 29th November. Not too bothered that VWFS have taken 8 x £15.99 IF I only have 28 payments left on my 48 month (36 payments) service plan.
Can anyone confirm if they've had a similar thing happen to them or that they only had first payment taken on month 6 as I was expecting?

Funny you mention this mate, not in the same boat as you BUT service related.
I took out the 2 year service pack when I got my new car in October, but just this morning received a letter to say
"we have noticed from our records that when purchasing your new VW Golf, you did not take advantage of our exceptional servicing offer that was available to you"
Where is VW going these days lol

I just checked yesterday's post and got a letter that is my formal agreement for the service pack. It states that my first payment is due on 29th May and i'll have 36 payments. On that starting date basis, it would be correct that i've paid 8 payments between then and 29th December. It's just my luck that they took them all on Dec 29th after forgetting to take them before my enquiries.
I still wouldn't expect a payment to be taken in connection with a new car until a calendar month after collection. Looks like I only have 28 payments left....

Looks like a c0ck up at VWFS or the dealership, the £15.99 per month service packs have to be taken within the first 90 days of ownership but can be taken from day 1. They obviously backdated the payments they forgot to take to the date you signed up for the service pack but very bad timing. Possibly the salesman forgot to process your paperwork then rushed it through when you enquired.
If taken after 90days the service packs go up to £19.99 per month for the same packs

My first payment was taken a month after collection of the car. 36 payments for a 4 year service plan.
3 year plan, you do 24 x £15.99 and start payment at month 6 of ownership.
