Title: MK5 Golf Interior lights don't work
Post by: Brodie2906 on 03 January 2016, 23:34
Firstly I'm new here so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Recently got myself a mk5 golf gt upon buying it the interior lights don't work, done my research on the problem, firstly I changed all the the led's no luck, I've tried replacing the 7.5amp fuse located in the fuse box near the drivers door no luck I've even tried changing the KL30 (449) relay which I've read controls the interior lights still the problem persists. Can't seem to find any solution to it everyone else managed to fix the problem but I'm still having trouble. Hope someone on here can help me.

It's not just the dome in the front also rear interior lights, glovebox and sun visor lights also not working guessing there all on the same circuit thanks.

Had the same thing on a previous Mk5 GTD, turned out to the rocker switch next to the map lights. The copper connector had come apart from the plastic base. £20 from a breakers and the problem was solved.

Brodie,

Quickest way would be to half split the system. Do you have a multi-meter or know someone who has?

Easiest point to get to is the light and fuse.

See if you have a voltage supply at the light;

If you do: its most probably the light fitting (or the return).

If you don't: check the supply either side of the fuse. Unlikely the second fuse has blown but best to check.

If there's no supply at the fuse you'll need to half split the system again.

If you need any assistance let me know and i'll help where I can  :smiley:
