Been on the forum a while and picked myself a nice mk6 gti up the other week so thought I would say hello
The car previously belonged to Ess-Three on the forum so some may know it.
Anyway it's my 3rd car and 1st German car, although have a caddy max for work. I'm coming from a fn2 type r so although similar still very different and still getting used to the golf. Here's a few shots of my old cars.

Loved the type r but felt like a change and to be honest a golf wasn't really something i had been looking at but when this one came up with all the options, such low mileage and a few bonus mod's I felt I had to go for it.
Feels good owning a near immaculate car which is testament to Glen who took such good care of it before it came to me.
Had been waiting till I had the time and weather to finally get it washed before I stuck some pictures up so here they are

Only gave it a quick wash since I'm waiting on some new detailing things coming in the post but definately a lot easier to clean a red car than a black one and hopefully will stay clean looking a bit longer
As it stands the car has a VW Racing cat back and carbon air intake with pipercross stage2 intake pipe so my plans are to get a sports-cat and downpipe and get the bluefin stage2 map I have uploaded for the summer when the weather perks up. Also hoping to upgrade the brakes but just looking into the possible options at the moment such as the ttrs and golf r route.
Just need to replace the ditch finders that the dealer put on the front before I bin the car through lack of grip so will be getting Goodyear eagle f1's all round in the next few weeks since I've had them before and rate them very well for the price.
Anyway I have probably went on a bit so that's all for now, will update as I go along
-
Congrats on the car...and welcome to the forum i personally think red looks the best ...maybe im biased haha...glens a top guy:..ill be going stage 2 soon aswell...how are the ebc red stuff brakes on your car? im thinking of upgrading to them soon ..what you think of the gti so far coming from a type r?

Haven't had much chance to test them out due to work and poor weather but seem to stop the car well enough. Once the weather is a bit better and new tyres are on I'll get a good run and see how they do

I like it. Both are quite different and do different things better than the other. It's decent having a bit more low down power but I do miss the high revs and noise of reving the t**** out of it .
Once I have the new tyres on it will be a better comparison as at the moment it just spins and wheel hops. Definately more comfy and that for just driving A to B than the civic but.

what options you got? looks like a high spec model!

Yeah it was highly specced when ordered. Has the moving hid's, sunroof, dynamic chassis control, dynaudio, parking sensors and the auto park function. Might have forgot something but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Plus;
Reversing camera
Folding mirrors & puddle lights
Storage pack
Winter pack
RCD510
Tyre pressure monitoring
Glad you are enjoying it

Looking good there fella
At least it's gone to a good home.

Thanks Glen
It's nice and easy to wash since its already so clean plus the paints nice and thick. Don't worry I'm taking good care of it .

Yup, I've been letting it park itself lately. Impressive but I still crap myself every time

I also came from a FN2 Type R and after nine months of owning the Golf, the only thing I can say I miss about the Civic is the awesome gear change! The Golf movement isn't as quite precise, although I am used to it now.

Yeah the Honda gear change is unbeatable. I had a custom built shortshifter and weighted skunk2 knob so was amazing.
I've been looking into weighted gear knobs for the golf but seems their isn't many options. Tempted by the Black Forest industries ones but quite expensive and then you still have to pay import tax

The VW Racing adjustable shift linkage is a good one. Set to it's shortest setting it's lovely and short & mechanical.
Not DC2 ITR precise (but nothing else on the planet is!), but 100% better than standard.

Been looking at them on awesome gti, think I'll need to get one at some point. I take it when it says side shift it just means it reduces the sideway throw? Seems that the vwr one is the only one with that.

One plane is adjustable...can't recall which.
But on it's shortest setting it was DC2 ITR like....just not quite as polished.

Sounds worth it, guess it's down on the list of mod's planned

Another reason why you should have bought the car from glen

Looks ace mate, especially the front badge in black. Tornado red is without question or argument the best colour of MK6 GTi

Thanks mate. Going to order a black badge with red sides and inner section, reckon it might look good, might look sh*t too but at £8.99 can't complain.
Yeah tornado red is definately the best colour although a clean black can look amazing but I'm glad to not be trying to keep a black car clean anymore

I wouldn't...
I have one at home somewhere. I bought one, it looked terrible (the red is the wrong colour completely) so it's in a box somewhere.
Buy a couple of beers instead

Cheers mate £9 saved
After my new year I'm avoiding beer for a good while but I'm sure I'll find something else to waste it on

Put it towards a set of summer tyres!
Or an RNS510.

Hopefully going to order some tyres tomorrow just stuck on which ones. Was happy with eagle f1's on my old car but might try something new. Have heard good things about uniroyal rain sports and going by our lack of summer they could be a good shout.
I'd love an rns510 but would be better off getting Bluetooth sorted first. On a side note was it the Fiscon Kufatec basic or plus that you had before? Not sure on the main differences and whether it's worth an extra £50 for the plus.

I had Goodyear Eagle F1s on the VWR 19" wheels that were on the GTI. Same on the same wheels on the Mk5, and the same on the 19" BBS CHs that were on the Mk5 before that...
So I can recommend them.

I think you need the Basic Plus to get it working on the DIS and functioning from the steering wheel etc.
It was definitely the Fiscon Basic Plus I had fitted.

Managed to get out for a good run in the car last week for the first time. Was surprised at how well it handled and how the tyres coped.
Anyway I replaced those with some uniroyal rainsport 3's a few days later so have some fresh rubber at last.
Here's some pics below. Went up to Aberfoyle and done the Dukes pass and came back through Callander. Was lucky and timed it well so never had much traffic which was a bonus.
