Ok. So I have seen a few people have swapped from cloth to leather seats on their Golf's.
Anyone want to offer up how much it is likely to cost and how much of a ball ache to change the seat covers it would be on my R. Also, could heated seats be retro fitted too as this would be a bit of a giveaway come re sale time if it were not done. When I bought my car this was the one thing I would have liked but was overruled by higher management at the time but seeing as she has got her own car now and I have my rose tinted spectacles on and a seed has been sown in my head and I need to prove to myself that it would be too costly to do !!
Anyone ???

Best bet is to have a decent trimming company cover the seats, proper 'full' leather too rather than the VW pleather..
Somewhere like Trim Technik will charge around £1K for a full retrim in single colour with choice of stitching, they also retro fit heating elements albeit controlled by rocker switches in the seat base side panel rather than the OE dash switches

We have used these guys a few times and have always done a great job.

You could always keep an eye out on fleabay for a used set.
Personally I'm not a fan of leather seats and the the cloth on my R is great - a sweaty arse crack in summer from leather is never a desirable thing on a long run. Plus leather stretches and ripples with usage and can prematurely age the car.
Heated seating is just a carbon weave mat set under the seat cover - a good upholsterer can fit one and all you have to do is locate the fuse slot, buy the staged OEM switches and wire them in. The switches themselves have an inbuilt potentiometer that varies the seat voltage so its not hard to do.

Thanks for the replies. I want to keep it as OEM as possible and also operate the seat heaters from OEM switches if possible. Does anyone know the Volkswagen part numbers needed for the seat covers and wiring/switches. A few years ago a friend of mine was looking for an Audi A4 with leather but could only find one that he really liked with a cloth interior. The dealer sealed the deal by telling him he could easily just replace the interior with OEM leather seat covers and door cards which they did and if you didn't know this you couldn't tell it didn't come out the factory looking like that.

Not sure if you can get the switches on their own or if they are part of the unit.

When I enquired with kufatec (https://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/volkswagen/golf/golf-7-5q/harness-seat-heating-golf-7)about retrofitting mk6 heated seats they told me a lot of VW seats come with the heating element already in them as its just as cheap to do this than without them. Not sure if this is true or not but I was given info about what multiplug to look for under the seat. So maybe worth investigating that route. You never know.

I agree with Wakey, look out for a used original set.
I seen a good set on eBay a month or so back that I was gonna buy, but it sold very quickly.
If you were to buy original leather seats and my car already has winter pack is it just a matter of u bolting old seats and installing new leather ones???
I'm very tempted now myself

Saw these yesterday but they have some strange creases and dents on the bolsters. If I'm honest if i am going to do it I want new. I don't want someone else's seats. I am not comfortable with where they may have come from. They may have come from some poor sods stolen pride and joy or possibly a written off wreck with damaged frames that you won't see unless you strip them down. I think I am going to go and have a chat with my friendly parts dept and see what prices they come up with.
As much as I admire the skill of the aftermarket trimming company's work an individual's tastes are a very personal thing and could end up badly with a proper kicking come trade in time.

From that eBay advert: "Removed from a 2014 3 door model due to changing seats"
Yeah right
