I had to take my front wheels off today so that I could clay them as the barrels were rough as anything. Rears were still smooth so I'm guessing it must be the pads on the front.
Ive done just over 3k miles in the car and the wheels were protected with Gtechniq C5 from new.
Has anyone else experienced this on their car? It's not something I've had on other cars.

Another 1500 miles done and they are rough as you like again.
I can't be the only one thats getting this surely?

Been working on cars for 30 years and never heard that phrase, please elaborate?

It's from 3 piece wheels, where you usually refer to the parts as the centre, the lip and the barrel.

The inside of the wheel.

Mine are the same mate. Particularly in the annoying channel section; I get spots of brake dust/tar which are a nightmare! My rears are usually relatively ok as they're obviously not doing as much work. My wheels are off at the moment for winter and I spent ages with iron out and wheel sealant getting them back to a decent (ish!) state. Give it a few weeks and I'm sure they'll get tatty again!

Glad it's not just me then. I might experiment with some different pads to see if I can get the same performance without the sticky dust.

Good plan! Let me know how you get on if you do decide to swap pads

Only experiment with premium brands, if you can though.

Ferrodo Premiere
or Pagid track pads
Not any personal experience, but not very trusting of standard Pagid or Mintex as these are the lower end part of the TMD friction group range, and it is alleged the standard Pagid you get are even just brand re-box jobs, and its only the 'real' track pads that are Pagid.
