Title: Jacking car up
Post by: Cossieian on 19 December 2015, 13:42
Guys wondered where's the best place to jack up the MK7 using a trolley jack??

I know the manual says to use the points on the sills but I'm not going to do that

Any advice would be great as I'm looking to put my wheels on today if possible

Using the a3 jacking bits would be the best but you will need to order parts for that so I wood just use a hockey puck on the welds.

Use a slotted hockey puck or similar on the sill jacking points is the best way.

As far as I know the A3 jacking points mod is not recommended for use with trolley jacks and is designed to be used with a four post lift only.

It's certainly more difficult with the side skirts on the R

Every Golf I've had I've used the points on the sills. Why wouldn't you want to use them?

Thanks guys, decided to go ahead and use the jack provided and the suggested jacking points. Never used this method before as I was always afraid of damaging the sills, but I was very very careful with lots of cloths etc and turned out perfect job in the end, all in all only took about an hour to change all 4 wheels
