I know it seems common and boring, but ive just moved to Leeds to go to uni and have no-one to talk to about cars, let alone golfs. Everyone here is really nice except they all know f**k all about cars, and nothing about vw's. So I'll start this off by saying the craziest car i have ever seen is a recent one by Jo Riley- the mk1 with a chimera engine and rwd. Who thinks of that kind of stuf? Any way im sure there has been crazier stuff than that. Maybe tractor wheels on a 4motion? Or even a golf/ boat conversion?
-
ask jo. He posts on this forum ;)
-
Nicew, i didnt know that. Under what name?
-
if you're talking vw's, then yeah jo's car is by far the most mental thing i have seen. i'm guessing you saw the write-up on golf+ magazine ? didnt notice the golfgti.co.uk stickers on it ? a few of us were there the day of that photoshoot (soggy trainers that day). check out the features part of the main page to see more info on it.

Jo uses this forum and a lot of us know him personally, he goes under the name of tvr.golf but he doesn't come on here a lot.   It certainly is a crazy machine and a great testament to Jo's skill and knowledge. If you look at the main site here --> http://www.golfgti.co.uk/viewfeature.asp you'll see a load of special features on your favourite modified car !
P.S. You must have the craziest forum name though !

i downloaded a gti international screensaver from 1999, there was a few scary lookin things on there, probably the dogs b0ll@x in their day.......

thats a mk3 with a w12 engine?
-
not a mk3 by any stretch of the imagination, and looks like a shop job to me.
-

not done by me.. i just came across it and thought that will do....
lol
-
That engine looks way too small....its been shrunk in photoshop.
-
Hey Hardcor3, what GTi Intl screensaver was it?
-
Image has been mirrored and the car is a jetta. Where mk3 came from i have no idea.

Hey Hardcor3, what GTi Intl screensaver was it?

And no folks thats no photoshop. People really do drive about in those in lill old japan!
-
Seen a Renault Twingo with a jet engine in the boot, way back when Max Power was a car mag!!!
With VW's tho never seen nothing more mad than that TVR golf tho
VW stuff tends to be more tried and tested things tho.
Imagine what we'd have if the Germans or Belgians had less tough laws when it comes to modifying some of them aren't even allowed to build cars with 2 engines!
-
there was a caddy with a jet engine built onto the back on ebay a while back!!
-
in the photoshopped pic are those the turrets you get on non gti's? they look different to mine
-
nope, My 1.6 turrets look just like the GTI ones.
-
actually looking again the right one looks the same, the left one looks too round, must have been brushed over when in photoshop
there are different turrets on mk2's, the gti's are supposed to be reinforced
-
anyway...........
could i put 2 vr6's in a mk2 rallye, then supercharge them, but not making a w12, making front engined, rear engined, 4wd? twin supercharged- lol. then would it be possible to whack a twin turbo on both 6's and make a hybrid.
I heard non other than VW were creating a turbo, supercharger hybrid called a TSI? with the benefits of constant power which is basically free, because the turbo would power the charger after the charger got the enigine up to higher rpm's for the turbs to kick in. now thats cool/ clever.
-
aw track sport have a mk2 with a supercharged and turbo'd 20v engine. its waaaaay cool.
-
joes tvr golf is superb! just lookin forward to seeing his next plans come to light!
Heres a pic of some of us on here cleanin it up b4 it got ignored by the toss pot judges at e38 earlier this year!

most mental thing iv seen is a fors mondeo estate with spinning wheel trims and more lights than blackpool beach! anyone who can do that does need shootin!
-
Only recently got into golfs. Previously I was into Mini's.
They still hold huge appeal for me.
Anways, try cutting out the back seats and installing a dirty great big hyabusa motorbike engine (Q car conversion).
I 100% guarantee that you wont catch one unless you were driving something really special.
I have also seen a mini estate on a jeep chassis, it looked like a shrunk down monster truck.
welcome to the world of the strange and bizarre

anyway...........
could i put 2 vr6's in a mk2 rallye - has been done before, Dubsport's baby blue rallye
You reach a point where weight balances with power and you physically can't go any quicker. With the weight of two VR's you will reach that point very quickly - aka B16 DUB. It would be better using a more lightweight unit and then ringing the power out of that - like the latest 2.0T or 20vt. You don't need to do it in a rallye, as having the engine in the front driving the front wheels and the rear driving the rear wheels it would be independent 4wd anyway. As said above, bike engines would be good - but would be an expensive conversion and small cc big power engines tend to need a lot of maintenance.

isn't it also true that you arent allowed to drive a dual engined car on the road.. ya gotta disconnect one..

Never heard of that one before. Police and MOT stations never had a problem.

the grille/headlights look like those from an older mk3 (grillie shape is same but not colour coded in the older cars)

never had a problem with what?
-
i would guess with the twin 16v turbo engine'd green mk1 he use to own  had to slap some sense into myself when it came up for sale a couple of months back
-
ok.. well i did a search and know where that came from... it was mentioned on scrapheap when they did that barmy cab thing.
seems taht the issue may be that both need to be firewalled
-
My rear engine was covered, so can't really comment, but Nick Hosker's mid engined orange mk1 3.1 VR turbo isn't covered and neither is B16 DUBs - they are both fully road legal.
