Title: Help with immo
Post by: groggs on 15 December 2015, 14:27
Hi
Try to make this short, my golf 2.0 gti 8v, starts up and runs for about half an hour then just cuts out.
I plugged in my VCDS,12.12 full version, and it came up with 2 faults  17978 and 16706.
The first code is immo, and the second one is engine speed sensor. I have had the car about 3 years and have only one key and it is not a fob key . this problem started about a month ago,any ideas on what i can try to solve this problem

Replace your crank sensor (engine speed sensor). A crank sensor that is failing will become more problematic when the engine is hot. If it was an immo fault the car would cut out when you first start it. Once the engine is running the immobiliser doesn't do anything, you can even take the clocks/immo out of the car with it running and it will continue to run.
