Hi, newbie here, looking to buy a GTi this week!
Can someone tell me realistically what mpg am I likely to average?
I'm not expecting it to be high, but if you can give me your average that would be great.
-
Well you will be pleasantly surprised.
Driving "average" you could expect 35MPG!! Even with mine tuned to stage 3 it still done 35MPG.
Joys of a modern, direct injection engine!
-
My old Mk5 only managed around 27 mpg and that was with a light foot, so @35 would be awesome
-
Just come back from Cornwall - 357 miles in just over 5.25 hrs and got 40.7mpg according to the MFD readout. No violent acceleration and braking and nearly all two/three lane roads. Normally around 35/36mpg.

35mpg is daily reality for me.
Considering that's a commute across back roads and through villages, it's not bad at all. Longer runs can see 40+ comfortably. 45 is my best so far, but driving like a granny. That's at Revo stage 1

town 29-30 ish

32-33mpg is average over a full tank of fuel for me, it gets into the high thirties on motorways and similar, it would go higher still but I don't tend to dawdle, and I spend half my time trying to overtake dawdlers (though it is brilliant at overtaking). My car is standard by the way.
-
Achieved 42.8 mpg today on a 62 mile fast-ish run on A roads.
-
My overall average is just over 34 mpg for my manual standard car.
It all depends how you drive it and traffic conditions.
Be aware that the DSG is in my hand anyway 10% less fuel efficient.
-
My DSG average is 29mpg and that's mostly cruising 80-90mph over 40-50 miles motorway driving per day on.
-
My DSG did 37mpg on a 240 mile drive mostly motorway and there was some 50/60 enforced speed limits.
-
22 spirited driving town, 28 driving average in town, 34mpg motorway. much worse than my GTD but the sound and power make up for it
-
Mine sits at around 39MPG which is pretty good IMO. I had a Civic Type R previously (FN2) and that never went above 30MPG - no matter how softly I drove it!
-
how you get that I have no idea :')
-
Averaging about 40mpg on a mixture of roads with 10% town driving - obviously not pushing it too hard but not hanging about either. Manual.

Hi all, I took the opportunity to see how many mpgs I could get on my journey down the m1 yesterday. The result was 43-44 mpgs driving around 65-70 mph. Very happy with that! Of course, didn't buy a GTI to drive miss daisy but good to know it can be relatively economical if wanted.
Averaged 32 mpgs on the way back with more 'frivolous' driving ;)

My dsg average is 28 on a nice medium traffic run to town so not terrible, not great
