Hello everyone I've just purchased a new mk 7 gti from motor point and it's a import that was destined for Cyprus I have two questions
Q1 is my warranty valid with Volkswagen uk
Q2 wilt be same spec as uk model
Cheers for any help

I asked those questions of them, before I considered purchasing!
I was told, the first 2 year warranty is VW, so consider it the same as a Uk car. The 3rd year is their own supplied warranty.
The spec of the car I looked at did not have some of the "latest" UK spec, keyless start and adaptive cruise comes to mind.
They were also unsure of the alarm system.
From my point of view, the warranty appeared less than ideal and without adaptive cruise and UK spec alarm/immobiliser I thought I might have a difficult time insuring it vs a UK spec car and this would also make re sale harder?
I did my due diligence, maybe I like an easy life, but it seemed easier for me to look out for a UK car.
I don't know the exact spec of your Cyprus car, the odd trim difference is one thing, I would not be over concerned about.
Good luck!

Quite a few of the recent Golf GTI's at Motorpoint didn't have xenon headlights.

Most of the GTi GTD on their website show vehicles without xenons, I can't see any information on the website regarding them being imports - shouldn't it be obvious to the buyer (or viewer) that these are not UK cars?

Be aware that warranty on a UK car starts when you get it from dealer new, with imports it starts when it is with the first dealer, so you may loose out on a few months. Specs depend on country, so you will need to manually go through what it has and what not.
Chances are specs are not the same as UK.

I posted about these the other day - http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=275674.msg2520439
I actually think for the money they make a reasonably sensible buy, no one is trying to hide the fact they're imports with slightly lower spec.
Warranty should be fine for the first 2 years and will likely start date of PDI

I bought an Edition 30 from a similar organisation and it was full UK (base) spec... and many of the nay-sayers on here predicted that it would be worth nothing when I came to sell. Sold it after 18 months and 40K miles for £500 less than I paid for it. I told the purchaser all about it and he was happy.
No issues with warranty either, they replaced the driver's seat under warranty because the backrest wouldn't stay in the correct position for me - something to do with the recline mechanism.
They can be a good buy, but when you come to sell be careful how you describe it, if it doesn't have Xenons/adaptive cruise then you cannot honestly describe it as full UK spec and if Motorpoint are describing them as such...
