Title: Removing DVD unit from glovebox
Post by: karlak on 25 November 2015, 20:39
So,  if someone had accidentally lost a SD card into the DVD slot in the glovebox unit, would anyone know if it is possible to remove the unit from the glovebox ?  If so, how easy.  Hoping that the unit can be unscrewed to retrieve the "lost" SD Card.

It can be removed, all you need is a removal tool such as the one below to unlock the latches that hold the unit into place and a screwdriver to open it up. In the end it's similar to a CD-ROM drive from the old PCs.

Having had people inserting micro sd cards into the SIM slots in smartphones at one of my previous jobs, still don't understand how can one make such mistake.

Be aware that you will loose the warranty on the head unit if you open it up. If I were you I would grab a pair of tweezers and try to "fish" the SD card through the CD loading bay to avoid opening the unit up.
