So currently the interior, seats, carpet and sound deadening are all out the car (bit of underbody work going on) and after a rainy night I keep finding puddles in the footwells. I've found the sources and its coming in from under the doors. After investing in some new door seals I thought it would have got rid of the problem but apparently not! I think what is happening is the water is coming in from down the windows, and thru the little holes in the bottom of the door, and instead of the water going back out, beyond the door seal, its coming in!!! Just looking for some suggestions or possible cures, other than welding the doors permanently shut and using the boot as the way in n out!!

Are the drainage holes at the bottom of the door clear? Do you have the doorcards off?

Yeah the holes are clear, that's where the water is coming in from. Its like the holes sit above the door seal instead of beyond it, so the water gathers in top if the seal and then comes into the car instead of out of the car!!

Are your seatbelts damp?
Worth also checking the roof drainage isn't blocked and leaking into the car as this would eventually find its way down around the doors.

.....by roof drainage do you mean the roof gutter trim, or the drainage holes from under the sunroof?

As further to the previous suggestion, I've rolled out the seatbelts and found that the front passenger seatbelt is indeed getting wet! Does this mean I need to be taking the roof lining out ((uuughhhhhhh)) and replacing the drainage pipes, or just checking to see if it is blocked? I'd have thought that if the pipe was cracked or something the roof lining would be wet too!... Aaaaaalso, as were on the subject, if the roof gutter trim isn't seated right up against the roof (will add a pic so you know what I mean) would this allow water in too?

is the rubber strip not just a piece of trim to hide the spot welds between the roof and side panels? I am not sure as I have never had the courage to pull it off :grin:

So yeah, grew a pair and decided to pull back the gutter trim. Yes you were right it does just hide the welds. Turns out that some of the little white clips had broken on the underside so was causing it not to seat correctly. Have replaced since and now it sits nicely. I found the source of the leaks, it was the door skin/membrane that had failed. Sooo f***in annoying, spent 3 hours on 1 door today just cleaning off all the old sealant crap. Will be doing the drivers door too tomorrow, uugghhhhhh. Sooo, before I attempt to seal the doors with some new skins, has anyone got some good advice as to how to get a good reliable water tight door?!?

I added new polythene sheet where required and it's still working fine.
