Title: First trip back to the dealer
Post by: benmartingolf on 24 November 2015, 13:45
Hi all,

its been a while since posting on here, however I have been on here daily looking over the posts.

My GTI PP is going into the dealer tomorrow for a few niggly bits and pieces and just thought I would share and see if anyone has had anything simialr.

1- Slight metalic noise when accelerating. (very quiet but I have heard it a few times)
2 - Annnoying rattle noise coming from the passenger side dash
3 - Air conditioning fluxuates between very cold and really warm without me touching it and it not being on AUTO.
4 - I have Dynaudio speakers and they are not sounding massivly clearer that previous standard speakers. I know its a personal thing but thought I would have it looked at.

On the whole loving the car though.

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben
I had the first 2 on my GTI PP, it went to the dealers 3 times and they failed to find a solution, so I gave up. The rattle was the worst, i was convinced it was coming from the a-pillar but they couldnt find it. It started off as occasional but ended up being pretty constant. The metallic ringing was there but didnt bother me.
Car has now been replaced with an R, which also rattles like hell !

Hi Ben

Ref. 1&2, I had a light metallic rattle from cold idling at low revs, and you could hear it when pulling away. Inside the car it seemed to come from behind the dash, in the central area. Annoyingly not there every time.  I couldn't hear it under the bonnet but could hear it under the car.  Dealer had trouble locating it but eventually diagnosed a rattling exhaust heat shield which they re-positioned and added a felt pad.  Seems to have fixed it.  So nothing serious, more of an annoyance.
