Title: R Driver Profile
Post by: Juicetin on 22 November 2015, 15:48
Hi all, quick question, does using "sport" engine  in the individual mode open the exhaust flaps? Or does that only happen in Race mode?
Thank you.

It will if you switch between another mode into this mode, but like race if you start the car in that profile the gearbox jumps back to D, so you pull the stick back

Not sure if your car is manual or DSG.

In a DSG car it does open the flaps in Sport in Individual mode.  However, it doesn't remember the setting when the engine is switched off, so each time you start up it reverts back to D and you need to either go into profile selection again and just tap the Individual button once to get it to engage Sport, or, nudge the gear stick into S, then you can hear the flaps open up again.  It's annoying but it becomes habit to do that.

Not sure what happens in a manual.

From what I read on VWROC you have to reselect the mode in manual.

Cheers. Its a manual, ive no idea either, it sounds like just the soundaktor at full chat with the exhaust flaps closed. It sounds fruiter in Race. Could be wrong though.

Easiest way to tell would be to select the mode and physical check if the two outer exhausts are open. Gases  only come out of the outer pipe when the flaps are open

My manual R has been left in Race pretty much since I bought it, I don't flit between the modes and my outer pipes are getting a bit dirty, i'd say the flaps are opening every time i'm in the car - perhaps not at when turning the ignition on, but from when you first put your foot down.

My old GTD used to have mode amnesia until it was solved unintentionally with a first service update (was always left in Sport, but the Soundaktor used to react like it was in normal mode unless you came out of Sport and back into it.
