Hi all
Had a problem with throttle delay on my gti pp last couple of days, the car was making a slight whirring noise when pulling away too. I first noticed it last week on the motorway when i was pressing the throttle harder and further down than usual to overtake. I took it in to Stoke VW today and they called earlier to say confirm Turbo failure. They have ordered a new one and are fitting next week under warranty. Bit of a let down after 15k but at least its covered under the warranty as i wouldn't like to think what the price would be if not. Anyone else had this issue?

I got a new Turbo on my R about a month ago, with a mere 4k miles on the clock. It started with an EPC light and a lack of turbo (car felt like it had about 120PS). Next ignition cycle it was gone. A few more EPC light-ups on a few more journeys (without power reduction) and it was in to the dealership, with a new Turbo ordered and fitted.

I mentioned this a while back.

What year is your car?

My car is 2014.
4k is a bit harsh MH thats no miles. Mine had no warning lights at all come on i could just tell by how it drove.
I bet you were gutted?

I'd rather it go at 4k miles than just out of warranty. But with such an early failure, i'd put it down to a manufacturing defect rather than the turbo's general design not being robust enough. I'd been messed about with repeated half-done warranty work at Pulman Durham (where I bought the car) for ACC issues, but Barclay (Head tech) at Sunderland branch seems miles better at getting to the root of problems and sorting them. I'll be going there for anything else that goes wrong (I need to get a repeated stop/start error looked at).

New turbo fitted today and so far so good, massive difference so the old one must have been buggered. Glad it was under warranty as the invoice showed £1973.00
