Maybe a  stupid question but I'll ask anyway. Whats the difference between downloading the one for the golf 7 and the golf GTI? Both are available for the 2015 model but the GTI one doesn't give the option for the discover pro/media where as the golf 7 does? Also the GTI one is 14gb and the golf 7 one is 21gb.

Any advice on which one I need for a GTI with the MIB2 discover pro system?

The 21gb is for Discover Pro

Anyone updated yet? I'll do it over the weekend I'd imagine.

Any bugs?

Have just tried to extract the download with 7-Zip and got the following error message "Cannot open the file as (7z) archive -  Unexpected end of data"  Have downloaded the latest version of 7-Zip (15-12) but still can't get the file to extract.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Update applied after downloading overnight - took around 3/4 hour to copy from the SD card onto the Nav Pro

I have the NAv pro and have updated successfully in the past.

Can I just check what the file structure looks like on the card after it has been extracted.  My unit is not seeing the software - think this is the first release for MIB1 and MIB2.  Do you just extract the version that suits your MIB version ?

on the root directory on the card I have

P134_N60S5MIBH3_EU_NT (1)  - directory
WMPInfo.xml

The directory folder opens to

Mib1
Mib2
metainfo2.txt
P134_EU_Q1.15.md5

Can anyone confirm what theirs is please :)

Cheers

I extracted the lot. It works it out ok. It's the slowest update to apply so far though.

Hmm,, That is what I did, but it still doesn't see this update.  Previous ones were no problem.

It didn't see my update either so I took the folders out and put them in the root and it worked no problem.

Either extract or unzip the downloaded file straight to your SD card or straight to a folder and then just move the files to you SD card.

HI all, bit late to the party on this one, but I've just downloaded the full 22gb for my Nav Pro, and when the zip file was extracted, I noticed it created two folders:

MIB I
MIB II

Never seen this before, I assume as my unit is a MIB I (Sept 2013), I just put the contents of that folder on to the root of an SD card and ignore the MIB II folder, or do I copy the lot to an SD card ?

Just place the contents of the MIB1 folder into the root.

Its annoying that you have to download both versions - especially as its so chuffing large.

Does anyone know how much it costs for the VW pre-loaded SD card? I'm not mentally equipped to cope with "roots" and files and don't have any suitable equipment for adding stuff to an SD card. If it is expensive then I'll either not bother or the cost may be enough to encourage me to learn how to download. I have the standard nav which I rarely use and when I do, I usually just end up shouting at it!

There seems to be a couple of different ways to navigate (excuse the pun ) to the right file to download. One gives you the option of 3 head units with their size displayed (http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site/-/-/-/View-Promo?&cwt=application/ApplicationFrame_campaign_light&Page=VW_Europe_Golf7Landing) for you to choose and the other just goes straight to "Full download" or "download smaller individual segments" (http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site/-/-/-/View-Promo?&cwt=application/ApplicationFrame_campaign_light&Page=VW_Europe_Pro_MIB1)

Both though are 21.7Gb for the Nav Pro, which I'm sure its been that size all along so it looks like when its getting unpacked it somehow splits the file into both MIBs which is a bit strange. Also I see the Nav Pro doesn't have a MIB II to select.

I wonder if they've recently changed the files as my Nav Pro downloaded didn't give me a MIB I or MIB II folder.

I don't even know if they do pre loaded cards. When i was trying to get our Audis firmware updated which was done by SD Card they wanted to charge me an hours labour at £133+ VAT just for sticking a card in  :undecided:

Its really simple just get yourself a card reader for a couple of pounds  like this  (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/All-in-One-External-USB-Memory-Card-Reader-SD-SDHC-Mini-Micro-M2-MMC-XD-CF-MS-/121660845998?hash=item1c538d2fae:g:oswAAOSwBLlVYzve)

Download the files you need to your PC
Extract them
Copy over to your memory card using the memory card reader above
Put it into your car and the jobs done

Alternatively if you PM me your address I'll send you the files you need on a SD card and just put it in the car.

Yes, when the MIB2 stuff was actually in people's new cars :)

22gb is a bit mickey taking really - that's beyond even a large download, that's mental sized.

That's a generous and very kind offer, thanks
The VW website shows cards available to buy as an alternative to downloading but doesn't give a price. I'll give them a call sometime, failing that I'll follow you tips and give it a go (I'm reasonably practical but prefer tasks that involve a hammer ).

Cheers!

I have just been looking at the Nov 2015 update for the regular discover nav.

I removed the VW sd from slot 2. I saved the existing 2013 files to my laptop from the handy sd card slot, when I came to format the VW sd card, it said something about not being able to write over this.

I assume I need to buy another standard sd card of 16-32GB.

Is there any specifics to this, I have seen class 4 & class 10, does this matter?

Thanks for any help.

I assume you flipped the write protect latch to open on the sd card?

Guys do these map updates also update the media unit firmware and applications such as Carplay?

Pretty much as it says,

Once I inserted the updated sd card, the Nav initialised and when I went to set up to see which version I had installed on the Discover nav, it showed various digits followed by 2016.

I assume the Nov 15 update is their idea of 2016 data, much like when most German factories return from their summer holidays they start making the "next model" year, even though it may be 2015 at the time, in this case.
