I have just posted this in the new members section but im guessing a lot of people probably wont look in there so here is my MK3 Golf
A little bit of background, I was originally looking for a MK2 when I spotted this MK3. Years ago I had always wanted a car near enough the same age as me so the MK3 was the obvious choice. So here is my 1994 1.4 MK3 golf (which is slightly older than myself) the car itself is fairly clean with any rust being only surface rust
So far I have:
- Given it a full service
- Replaced number plates with pressed plates (old ones had water in)
- Replaced front reflector that was cracked (thinking about installing fog lights)
- Fixed the air vents (all the directional things had fell out)
- painted steel wheels silver (looks better than the rust effect)
- One of my friends has fixed the slight petrol leak it had
I have bought to go on:
- GTI side skirts
- Plastic Wheel arch covers
- New aerial
- Lowering springs
- Exhaust tip
- VW Metal dust caps (give it a day before the local chavs steal these to make there BMX's look cool as F**K)
This picture is just after I got it, before I started working on it

I would leave side skirts and plastic arches off as acts like water trap for rust.
-
The passenger side sill has quite a large dent in so will be getting used as a cover. also planning on putting a bead of silicone around the full inside edge of the plastics to attempt to keep as much water out as possible
-
Good idea then to use to cover dent

bells rods!

so last week I took a week off work so that I could make a good dent in the work that is needed done to the golf. I was hoping to lower it, fix the dent on the rear and in the front wing (drivers side) and get the plastic wheel arches and side skirts installed as they had arrived on the Saturday. but due to the amazing weather in the north east of England I now have a car that has a half bodged wing (started to rain as I started to sand). Well at least I now have a lend of a orbital sander so it should make my life a little bit easier.

Good luck with it mate. I was never keen on the mk3 until I bought my Cabrio, now it's growing on me, I've done a auto to manual Conversion on mine using a donor Gti, so May have some spares if you are interested. Pm if you are and l see what I've got.

If i'm honest this project has been short lived. the gearbox went a few weeks back. and it is currently sat on my drive with no gearbox in and the engine supported by a trollyjack. if I'm honest its not looking good for the MK3 unless the mk2 gearbox I have been offered fits.
