Hi , VW dealers offer a Kenwood Nav retrofit for VW MIB radios as fitted to Golf MK 7 for around £500 , the graphics and map display aren't as good as factory fit and resembles Garmin,s system , check it out on VW accessories as a viable option , hope this helps , cheers .

eBay item 221923495615 (now ended) was for the above Garmin based unit, being sold by a dealership by the looks of the eBay ad.
£450 (£425 more likely with an offer) and fit it yourself.
Or buy a £15 phone mount and use the nav apps you can get on your phone which will be mounted higher on the dash than the factory unit?
There are other options including one using entirely third party parts and a bigger screen but I've never seen a review of one of those.

I've just retrofitted the vw backed garmin unit. Got it for 425. Its a great bit of kit and integrates seamlessly with MiB. Worth every penny imho

Is there anyone 'in the know' who can see whether the Kenwood/Garmin Nav works with Dynaudio please?
All the ebay ads seem to mention it is not compatible with it.
Ta in advance.

I remember when I had an e 46 m3 and there was a head unit upgrade doing the rounds and it wouldn't work if the car came with the harman kardon sound. It was due to the separate amp for the hk sound upgrade. I'd guess it would be the same on the golf I'd guess.
Maybe speak to a vw dealer as they offer a retrofit on this so they must know the definitive answer

Is it fairly easy to fit Wakey?
I've retrofitted various units to older generation VW's and have full VCDS.
At £425 it's not too bad value up against the £800 factory unit, plus you'd probably recoup £100 - 150 selling it on in a couple years once the car was being moved on.
I've been on/off considering one of these Garmin units for a few months but haven't had any trips planned where I'm likely to use a nav!

I have the Nav Pro in my GTD and do like the integrated look as its always there just waiting to be accessed.
However I was down south for a few days with a works car and used my mobile with the Waze App. Yeah it was a clutter and a bit of a nuisance having to remove my phone every time I stopped for the toilet but I was impressed with the speed trap notifications which included the police out with their speed gun and also showing me traffic jams and how long the jam was lasting, with a countdown time to when I would be through it.
Like I said I do like the integrated look but the factory fit doesn't offer much functionality.

For MY16 cars easiest method is to get AppConnect enabled and pair to your smartphone via apple CarPlay or android auto and use it through the MIB II screen!

Are the all of the nav apps enabled though? At the very least Google maps nav or Apple maps?
I can see that this approach will be favoured by most once people realise that this is a definite possibility.
