Title: Golf R Mud Flaps
Post by: vidman2 on 31 October 2015, 16:05
I know mud flaps divide opinion but has anyone fitted Mud Flaps to their R - do the GTi ones fit?

I currently have a GTI with genuine VW flaps I fitted my self and have an R scheduled for delivery in January so cant do a compare myself yet and I can not find genuine R flaps anywhere.

The front ones should certainly fit - you'd have to study the profile differences on the back bumper/valance between a GTI and an R to know if the rear ones will.

I don't think either the fronts or rears will fit. The side skirts are much bigger on the R and the rear bumper flares out much more.

Besides, they'll look crap.

They will look crap, but can't say I noticed that the side skirts looked any bigger than those on my GTD (which required GTI fronts and normal Golf rears if I were to add them)

Ah the skirt is much chunkier. The GTI skirt is barely there, right under the sills whereas the R skirt comes up right over the sills under the bottom of the doors.
