Hi Joe,

Thought i'd register and let you know that it sounds as if your cam chain, tensioner and adjuster may need changing.

Some people only change the chain and tensioner as the adjuster is expensive and you wont get much change from 1K if you have it all done. Although it makes sense to change it because the big cost with this job is the labour.

Bear in mind these T FSI engines are very noisy, using high pressure injectors. i have a 56 reg Gti with 60K on the clock and i currently have the same problem. normally fine when cold but after a few miles when the engines hot it sounds like a diesil!!

Hope this helps

Failing that where on the engine is the tapping coming from? What area?

Keen to see whether you sort this. I have the same issue at the moment and the noise is coming from LHS/drivers side. Cambelt etc all done with 10k! Only happens when warm. Good Luck.
