Title: Jerky acceleration and lift-off.
Post by: Adamkay on 23 October 2015, 13:29
Has any experienced jerky acceleration and lift-off on a Digifant 8v GTi. My throttle body is nice and clean as is the ISV. I have replaced all the small vacuum pipes. The car idles nicely at 850/900 apart from the very rare time it like to hold at 1100 for a minute or two. Replaced the blue temp sensor. The sport air filter has been cleaned as well as the air box. Does anyone has any suggestions?

When you say '' jerky''. do you mean it's missing? With all these problems you have to start with the simple stuff like plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor, the rubber grommit on the rocker cover first.
Then timing and mixture. Could be a host of things causing it.
Have you done anything to it lately?

I guess missing could describe it. Dizzy, rotar arm, leads, plugs have all been changed. I've cleaned the pipes and the breather valve. Would a worn out grommit really make that much difference. I guess I need to get the timing and mixture checked. Thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds like the front engine mount has failed.

I had this replaced last year with a standard gti one. It's the one that has oil in it. It did make an improvement at the time. I know a lot fit a full rubber mount that you get on the diesel models to stiffen it up. Does this work. I thought VW would have got the front mount design correct for the GTi.
