I would like the opinion of people using this box with regards to settings? I am well aware of what is advised by DTUK but would be interested in actual drivers views and experiences. I am looking for good linear torque gains accross the DSG box not everything in 3rd .
Thanks in advance

I can only speak from the R perspective but map 1+ 3 is by far the best map. All of the maps give a good linear delivery on the petrol car. Can't help with a GTD though

I can't help with either petrol or Diesel as I've banned myself from modifying my car this time round.
However, aside from the very knowledgable and helpful people on here, don't forget to keep an eye on threads running on seatcupra.net and briskoda where the 184 TDI is also very popular.
Oh and there are a good few GTD owners on golfmk7.com who don't come on here too.

My older model box has been on for a year, nearly, now nd it hasn't missed a best on 4+2. Nice smooth delivery of power and keeps going even in sixth.
My car is a manual though.

Thanks for the info but the new box doesn't have jumpers and only goes up to 3 not 4 so its a case of finding what the old "4+2" is on the newer box? :undecided:

I've not experimented for fear of faults but took advice that 3+2 was the best setting and it certainly drives well on that.

Monkeyhanger ran both boxes on his GTD, and his old man (i believe) has got his box now. I'm sure he was running it on 3+1 and getting the best results.

There are loads of posts on the TDI section about the box settings.

Yep, my dad has the box now and it hasn't skipped a beat.
4+1 for the old box
1+1 for the new box were my preferred settings. I found them the most linear in output, going +2 and +3 seemed to give more at the upper end but had a definite hump in output at around 3100 revs on my car. +2 and +3 also made the car a bit thirstier and it regen'd at least twice as often.
If my GTD had come with decent tyres that didn't tramp readily on stock power, I doubt i'd have been tempted by the R
