hi folks, any ideas appreciated fan comes as soon as engine is started when switching off fan carrys on for a few minutes and then stops fortunately so battery is'nt flatened .the engine runs fine apart from probably unnessecary extra cooling no fault codes come up this is on mk4 gti turbo by the way.  cheers.

Mine runs on after switching off, think it's a standard feature, does it more on hot days or when i've had a heavy right foot.

Could be a faulty temperature sender or switch.

Do you have air con (on)?

makes no difference whether air cons on or not,never happened before this last week
owned the car for 3 years.comes on soon as started and stays on about 4 minutes after shutting off.

Faulty temperature sensor maybe or a fault in rad control module
Fault codes and measuring blocks are your friend
