Title: lost my only key?

i have lost my only key, the mk4 golf is still unlocked, is my only option to go to VW dealer for a new key

Depends where you are.... electronically I can do key matching for you.
You will need to get a blade cut though.

how would he do that if he's lost his only key?

Buy the key (cheapest non flip) from stealers.... get copied onto flip key.

Then match both to car. Cheaper than having one flip key from stealers including matching.
