Title: Anyone swapped their stereo?

Hi all,

Just got myself a 53' plate 1.8T 180 and looking to change the headunit. Its currently got the original tapedeck with a separate cd player in double din setup which Id like to replace with a single din unit with some sort of cubby hole in the other space. I'm struggling to find the right parts, has anyone else done this and can recommend any parts/suppliers?

I just trawled scrap yards until I found a good condition used one
-better than after market as they clip into the plastic frame both sides and at the back.

They come in either a top or bottom types. Can be tricky to remove

I decided on a bottom one, my reason was to make the stereo display a bit easier to see
-But I don't recommend this option as a filled drinks holder pushes the radio buttons.

About to relocate my stereo down to the lower location and fill that din slot with 3 gauges - boost, oil pressure & oil temp.
