Title: Am i being thick ?
Post by: ashasg03 on 28 September 2015, 09:10
I bought a 16GB usb stick for my golf and put on around 10GB worth of songs. When I play the music from my MIB11 it only plays and lets me choose half the music on my memory stick, yet I know all the songs are there as ive put the memory stick into my laptop and checked. So at the moment alphabetically its only letting me go upto artist J. Anybody else had this issue ?

Ho Ashog03

It may be that you have too many folders. Have a look at this thread for help with the media interface:-

Good luck

Would that be why in my Mk6 Golf and B7 Passat, I can access all the music when searching manually, but when I have it on "Mix All" it only selects the first third or so files in alphabetical order?

The symptom would seem to fit with the limitations of the system dubber36. How many folders do you have? Try merging (just a few) of our latter artists (so Y&T and ZZ Top if you have them) into a single folder called "A" or some such and see if they now play when you shuffle.

I've got a folder for each album, so probably 150.

Think the limit is 1,000 songs in one folder. I had to split my "singles" in half and had two seperate folders.

Erm, presumably, if none of your music is in folders, you have 0 folders?!?! However....assuming you have Windows and not a Mac, when you plug your USB into your laptop, if you select all items on you USB which you can do be clicking "Select All" from the file menu (within Windows File Explorer), or clicking any item on the USB (again, within Windows File Explorer) and pressing Ctrl+A - this will highlight all items on your USB stick, then right click your mouse and select "properties", it will tell you how many items there are and how many folders there are.

Try what I said above ashasg. It's rare that all your music will just be in one folder - it's usually arranged into folders by artist, album, type or any of a whole range of options. If you've just dragged a folder from your laptop to your USB, then any folders that were on your laptop will also be on the USB now. Select all>>> right click mouse>>> properties and you'll see how many folders you have.

Do this and I guarantee you'll see your music. (hopefully)
