Title: Pics of My 330d Collected (for anyone interested !)
Post by: drisser on 26 September 2015, 20:06
Hey chaps

I know you love Golfs, but many here saw my test drive marathon a couple of months back and I ended up ordering this..  I know you guys all appreciate nice cars, hope you like this one !

well, what can I say ?!  Wow.  Now I know why I ordered this car, just brilliant all round.

Fast
Comfortable
Refined
Brilliant Media System
Understated but sporty looks
Good economy

For those who haven't seen saddle leather in the flesh I urge you to not play safe and order black or oyster, its a really brilliant compromise - luxurious, sporty, practical.  Love it.  At night the colour of the leather really gives the interior a lift.

No real spec regrets tbh, apart from maybe piano black dash trim instead of silver but not much else, I was fairly sensible on options, love the new style 19 inch wheels and M sport brake combo, HUD is just the best thing ever.  Prof nav is just the best in the business.

LED lights are amazing and like having daylight, even without adaptive.  I also find the standard ride comfort a great compromise between handling and comfort and personally don't see any need for adaptive suspension.

Best £34k I ever spend on car.  Even the Mrs said I never saw you smile this much before with any of your previous cars.  How Audi can get away with a  specced up A3 sportback for the same money is beyond me.

Handover experience was average though, Angela was away so got a stand in guy who wasn't as switched on, but hey ho...

Enjoy the pics !

Looks absolutely awesome - congratulations!

I tried at length to get a good deal on a 3-Series Touring but was met by total disinterest by every dealer I approached. Two years time maybe!

Very nice.Same colour as my (very soon to depart) M Lite. The 330d is a bit of a weapon but still discreet and classy.Love that leather,i think that's a new colour to BMW.
The auto gearbox is the best in the business.I have it on my Beemer and after the engine (of course) i'm really going to miss its psychic ability to always be in the right gear,at the right time.
Are you joining any BMW Forums.I'm on BabyBMW.It is one of the better BMW forums.

Yea the 330 is a really good balance, the sweet spot of the 3 series range IMO

Joined the f30 forum which isn't bad but I still long here a lot tbh everyone is very open minded and appreciates all good cars..

This new model the prof nav links with gearbox so if you are coming to a sharp corner and in dynamic nav mode the gearbox will drop a couple of gears just before the corner..  Amazing.

The saddle brown is a new colour with the LCI on M sport it was only on luxury models before I believe but with bottom of dash same colour which is a bit OTT, think it's nicer with black dash and just seats in that colour.

The most important thing is-you didn't spec the bizarre, sick inspiring fake wooden dash. I cannot believe BMW think anyone will want it.
Yes,the sat nav linked to the gearbox is like something from the future. The nav doesn't even have to be switched on for it to work either.
Estoril blue hides the dirt well too.I should know... :embarrassed:
Good choice though,have fun!.

That's an excellent colour combination.  Love it! Bit of a contrast to the usual Golf black/grey offering.  The BMW looks fantastic, and the leather looks quality.

Enjoy!  I'm sure you'll have lots of fun on the Bimmer forums too!

Love the new car Drisser, I'm a huge fan of the 330d power plant.
I particularly like the wheels on it.

And that's a gearbox that would sway me towards auto if it can predict bends and get itself in the right gear unlike the constant cog swapping of certain gearboxes beloved on certain forums that remind me of having a passenger that just sits there clearing their throat every few seconds!!

You surely can't be talking about DSG in such disparaging terms, Mr Ex?

Moi?
Never!

Some of the BMW ones I found even more annoying.
I think it was something ridiculous like a 7 speed in a Diesel 1 series.
Riding a donkey with a bad cough would have been similar.

Not a donkey, but I have ridden a pony with a bad cough.  Not a pleasant ride, plus the evil little bas**#d kept throwing me off.

Stick to cars.....far more reliable

It doesn't sound like you bonded with Dobbin too well!

I'm sure Drissers BMW will be far more reliable and I'd love a go on one with a gearbox like that.

A colleague of mine said his parents have just picked up an auto Berlingo.
He said its so jerky you need to left foot brake to manoeuvre at low speeds.
The irony of it is that it's his dad that now needs an automatic but he's refusing to drive it and his mum can't drive an auto to save her life (old dog, new tricks and all that).

Dobbin, or Oliver, as he was called, and I had a love-hate relationship.  I loved his challenging personality, and he hated me putting any saddle on him.

I'm sure Drisser's gearbox is superb and a cut above the Golf.   But you're right.  Not all auto boxes are equal!

Cue Asker, where is he??

Lovely colour, lovely cabin but I think I would struggle to go back to a car with a handbrake. So yesterday

Congratulations.

Tell me about it! After a go in the A1last night, I parked it up and almost let it roll into the R!

That's going to take some getting used to on my part.

Enjoy drisser. I had one on a 13 plate but wasn't doing the mileage unfortunately so chucked it in against my (soon to be gone) Z4. Certainly a blast to drive and with plenty of poke. The Estoril looks awesome.

I'd hazard a guess that it's is own number plate.

Blue Estoril is definitely the best colour, enjoy it, I was so close to getting a 125D with the same spec as yours. But I decided to be sensible and go for the GTI ;)
