Well after a long wait (6 months) I have now had by GTI for just over a month and clocked up 1100 miles.
Overall, the car is fantastic it seems to be truly all things to all men. Previous cars have included a 911 C4S, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Lotus Elise and Scooby etc and the quality of build and ride on the GTI beats them all hands down.
The performance has been a pleasant surprise, the engines torque is really impressive as is the point to point pace of the car (in the dry at least) on my local B roads to and from the train station each morning.
Overall MPG is down on claims but an average of 30mpg I think is pretty good, as is the low car tax and cheap insurance.
I was lucky with the options as the car was delivered with the higher standard spec due to delays so got keyless, satnav, winter pack free. My options included Dynaudio (well worth it), climate screen (we'll see shortly), dynamic chassis (also well worth it for comfort and sport options) and performance pack (in my view great value and diff worth the money on its own).
Personal preference but I think the three door looks better, and with the combo of standard alloys, jacara cloth and in pearl black for me it's the perfect car (at least until I can save enough for a 991 Targa at least 😎).
Anyway, thank you for all the advice leading up to ordering and waiting for the car, this is a great forum.

glad you like your GTi
the fuel mpg will improve as the engine runs in , on a good run using A roads and dual carriage ways I can average 45 mpg , and thats not doing 30 mph all the time

Great spec Porker911! Had mine 3 weeks now and really enjoying it, also prefer the look of the 3 door. Found mine to be very economical, are you doing lots of short journeys? As physio says though, it will probably improve in time.
